Trump: Iran Facing Economic Collapse, Losing $500 Million Daily

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of Tehran. He claims that the Iran economic collapse is accelerating. According to him, the country urgently wants to reopen the Strait of Hormuz because it needs cash. Trump estimates that Iran is losing $500 million every day while the strait remains closed. He also said that members of Iran’s military and police protest because they are not paid.

Trump added that Iran is “starving for liquidity,” underlining the economic pressure on the nation.


Iran Economic Collapse Debate: Tehran Responds to Trump’s Claims

Iranian officials remain deeply skeptical of Washington’s intentions. Mehdi Mohammadi, adviser to the speaker of Iran’s parliament, called the ceasefire extension a tactical move. He said it “means nothing.” According to him, the blockade of Iranian ports is like a form of military aggression. He added that Iran must respond with military action if necessary.

These statements show ongoing tension despite the temporary reduction in military conflict.


US Expands Economic Pressure on Iran via Iraq

The United States is also applying pressure in Iran’s regional environment. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration blocked a $500 million transfer to Iraq. These funds came from oil revenues held at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

The goal is to push Baghdad to limit pro-Iranian militias. Additionally, military cooperation, funding, and training programs for Iraqi security forces remain suspended until militia attacks stop.
